General & Medical employees raise over £700 for charity!
Over the past month, the staff at General & Medical have put their fitness to the test, partaking in a variety of physical challenges including obstacles, running, and long-distance cycling to raise money for The General & Medical Foundation.
After the success of the Insane Terrain 10k mud run in September, their latest feat was to ‘cycle’ the 296-mile distance between the General & Medical Group’s two offices in Peterborough and St Peter Port, Guernsey as part of the Great General & Medical Spinathon Challenge.
Local gym ‘Anytime Fitness’ kindly donated an exercise bike for the team to use throughout the week, and over the 4 working days, team members swapped saddle duties to complete the impressive distance.
As well as biking in the comfort of their offices, the team spent cold and wet lunchtimes pitched up outside the local supermarket where they interacted with shoppers, and workers promoting the launch of the charity and collecting donations.
Amy French, marketing and event organiser said “The team had an amazing week taking part in the Spinathon challenge. We were able to raise money and awareness of the work we do to the local community whilst creating some team spirit. We would like to say a massive thank you to everybody who took part and helped make the event a success.’
As a result of their fantastic efforts over £700 has been raised which will go towards supporting those whose lives have been adversely affected by disease, illness or injury.
The General & Medical Foundation aims to help people who have been affected by medical conditions or disabilities by providing financial support for their medical needs and equipment to help aid lives.
We are welcoming applications from individuals who want to apply for a grant* to help them acquire equipment or treatment that would aid them in their daily activities.
